Why a Jiko certificate changes the game

Three guarantees that turn a simple declaration into solid proof.

Timestamped proof of priority

Each artwork receives a SHA-256 cryptographic fingerprint sealed at issuance. A digital proof admissible as evidence, attesting that your creation existed at that precise moment.

Enhances every sale you make

Your buyers leave with a professional, one-scan-verifiable document. The certificate travels with the artwork through every resale, strengthening its traceability.

Permanent public registry

A stable public page on jikoart.org for each certified work. Consultable forever, without an account, even decades later.

How it works

Three steps, two minutes, zero friction.

  1. 1

    Create your artist account

Quick email sign-up. No proof required, no credit card asked.

  2. 2

    Submit your artwork

Upload a high-quality image and fill in the metadata (title, dimensions, technique, date of creation).

  3. 3

    Download your certificate

Get a professional A4 PDF instantly, with a verification QR code and a public fingerprint indexed on the Jiko registry.

What your certificate contains

A document designed to be easy to read, hard to challenge.

Authorship declaration

Your identity, the artwork's title and a declaratory statement acknowledging your moral rights (article L121-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code).

SHA-256 image fingerprint

A unique 64-character digital signature. If the image is modified by a single pixel, the fingerprint changes entirely.

Public verification QR code

Lets anyone consult the matching registry page at jikoart.org/registry/… without creating an account.

Unique reference and timestamp

A non-reusable UUID identifier and a UTC issuance date, written immutably into our database.

Image usage rights

You choose the licence that applies to image reproduction: all rights reserved by default, or Creative Commons of your choice.

Handwritten signature area

A dedicated space to physically sign before handover or printing, alongside the date.

Full transparency

Trust is built on honesty. Here is what our certificate proves — and what it does not.

What the certificate proves

  • That a specific image was deposited on Jiko Art at a given date and time.
  • That this image has not been modified since (detected automatically).
  • That the registered artist declared being the author of this work, under their own responsibility.
  • That this deposit is indexed in a permanent public registry accessible to anyone.

What the certificate does not (yet) prove

  • That this is the work's very first existence in the world (only a legal deposit or external prior-art proof establishes that formally).
  • The civil identity of the artist (an optional KYC verification is coming soon).
  • The market or artistic value of the work (this depends on the market, not the certificate).

The Jiko certificate is a credible and verifiable first step. It grows richer with each of your exhibitions, sales and publications, which consolidate your artistic record.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Jiko certificate have legal value?
It constitutes a timestamped digital proof of priority, admissible as evidence in case of dispute. Combined with the public SHA-256 fingerprint, it strengthens the presumption of authorship provided by article L113-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code. For maximum enforceability (litigation, official filing), we recommend combining it with an INPI deposit or a notarial act.
How much does certification cost?
Nothing. The certificate of authenticity is free and unlimited for all registered artists. Jiko Art earns revenue only on sales made through the platform (14%), when you choose to put a work up for auction.
Do I have to sell on Jiko?
No. You can use Jiko solely as a registry to certify your artworks, without ever putting them up for sale. You keep full control over their distribution, pricing and use.
What happens if I resell a certified artwork?
When a sale is made through Jiko, a complementary transfer certificate is issued and linked to the initial one: the registry preserves the full provenance chain. If you sell off-platform, the certificate of authenticity remains valid and the buyer can always verify it via the QR code.
And if I delete my account?
Your account can be deleted, but certificates already issued remain in the public registry (they cannot be erased — that is what guarantees their value). Sensitive personal data is anonymised in accordance with GDPR.
What's the difference with an NFT?
An NFT proves ownership of a digital token on a blockchain. The Jiko certificate proves the declaration of authorship of an image by an identified artist, backed by a verifiable centralised registry. Both approaches are complementary; we chose the simplest, most ecologically sober, and most understandable path for traditional institutions.

Your artwork deserves a trace.
